Q: How did you get into parkour?
A: I was looking for climbing videos on Google
Video and this one came up: "Russian Climbing" I thought Hmm...and watched it. I was blown away by
what these guys were doing!! I started researching Parkour and discovered COPK right before the first
round of classes was about to start. It was like it was meant to be...Of course I overdid it during
the first class and ended up pulling something bad in my abs. Took all winter to heal up...but I was
still climbing and training all winter. When the redesigned classes started up, I was good to go. Just
goes to show you to be mindful of your limits and don't overdo it. Better to rest and train another
day than overextend yourself have to sit out for months while you heal!
Q: What is your most memorable parkour moment?
A: Well, I haven't been practicing for all
that long; lots of memories to come...I would have to say that the day we did vaults in class was the
best so far...I felt like a little kid..I had this huge grin the whole time. Things were clicking,
I felt strong and vaults are just a ton of fun!!!
Q: What do you like most about parkour?
A: As we get older, we tend to lose the
ability to play in our environment. People stick to the well traveled trails and sidewalks and
don't usually look up or around. This leads to apathy in both mind/spirit and body. The more
I train, the better my body feels and works. I have dropped almost 30 lbs since January and
my strength and skill in Parkour is growing in leaps and bounds right now. The more I train,
the more I find myself looking at things like a child again. Seeing ways to travel the common
pathways in a totally different way. Setting challenges in everyday settings. Betting myself I
can try something totally different, scraping myself up when I blow it, and then trying again.
And on top of all that it's a LOT of fun!
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world for
parkour, where would it be?
A: I don't need to go anywhere, I live in
Colorado! Seriously though, I would like to go to the Dame Du Lac in Lisses, what a structure!
Q: What are your future plans and/or dreams for your parkour?
A: Just to keep getting better. Everything is
still so new and I am learning new things about myself and Parkour all the time. I want to keep very
active in the Colorado scene (Gotta represent the "Old Guys"!). And I would eventually like to try
and make a COPK video podcast to share what's happening here with all the other Traceurs out there!
