Quote: I don’t like to live by other people’s
mottos; I like to pave my own way with my thoughts and progressions. But, I like to pride myself on having
integrity and honor, and I found this quote to be most fitting to my beliefs. It is my cousin’s quote,
and since he is family, this idea is embedded deeply in me. "Honor is a rare thing in this world, it
is a virtue in some. And those with honor can help those without find their own" Nick Gilbert.
Q: How did you get into parkour?
A: I first got interested in Parkour
when I lived in Germany, and some French friends told me about it.
I didn’t really start practicing Parkour till I met Ryan Ford in the fall of 2005.
Q: What is your most memorable parkour moment?
A: I have a couple very memorable moments that are important to me. My most memorable personal accomplishment was when I landed a front flip precision after my third try. I now think that it was pure luck!
Training with Ryan Ford for the first 9 months I was in Parkour was a very great experience. He pushed me mentally and physically and gave me so many opportunities I wouldn’t have other wise had!
My most recent memorable moment has been my foot injury. The next two years of my life were defined in
20 seconds of carelessness, a lesson I will never forget. But, this has given me a chance to better myself
and in a way, start all over. Some might view this as a set back, but I look at
it as a step forward to becoming mentally and physically stronger than I was before my injury.
Q: What do you like most about parkour?
A: I love how I can apply Parkour to my everyday life. My training doesn’t end after a Jam or a run, because I can apply what I have learned to many situations presented to me in life. By pushing myself to progress I am finding out my limits and getting to know myself better than I ever have. Parkour has made me aware of what I am capable of accomplishing, while addressing my weaknesses at the same time. It strips me bare of pride and has shown me life it its purest form.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world for parkour, where would it be?
A: I would go back to the city I lived in, in Germany. I had such great experiences there, but I would love to get more personal with the actual city by using what is physically there.
Q: What are your future plans and/or dreams for your parkour?
A: I would love to see COPK grow to ridiculous heights! There is so much talent state wide and I see so much potential for it to get huge! As of right now I will be out of the game for at least a year, so I plan on being very active in the community, doing what I can to get things off the ground for all of us!
