What is the Trophy Case?
The Trophy Case is a tool to recognize the dedication, progression, and fitness achievements of
the members of the Colorado Parkour community. The Trophy Case is also a tool to encourage local traceurs
to set goals and work hard to complete them.
How do I get my name in the Trophy Case?
To get your name included in the Trophy Case, you must either be given a certain award or you
must accomplish one of the goals. To prove that you accomplished a goal, you must submit video footage to
coloradoparkour@gmail.com.
As an alternative, Demon or kannagisai may witness the achievement in person.

Excellence in Classes
September 2007-November 2007 Session
Real Name: Camilo
Forum Name: n/a
Age: 33
Parkour Since: September 2007
Q: What is your favorite thing about
the COPK classes?
A: The community surrounding COPK is great.
You quickly realize that everyone involved in COPK is committed to developing their skills while
helping everyone else involved to reach their goals.
Q: What is the most important thing you learned in
the COPK classes?
A: Practice, Practice, Practice!!! No matter
your skill level, if you don't constantly practice and refine even the most basic techniques you
will never improve. I have literally started at the very bottom working my way up, and every day
I train, I improve. Practice.
Q: What advice would you give to somebody new who
wants to do parkour?
A: If the person is athletic and learns
quickly my advice is to not let your hubris get the best of you. You can advance quickly but if
you're not careful you'll be reckless and injury yourself. If the person is not so athletic and
takes a little longer to learn new things, my advise is to not give up. For every minute you put
into your training, you'll get at least that back and it is awesome! Stick with your training and have fun.
Q: What one thing would you want to share with
other traceurs?
A: I can't wait to train with all of you.
I'll be training everyday, hope to see you there.
June 2007-August 2007 Session
Real Name: Chase
Forum Name: n/a
Age: 14
Parkour Since: December 2006
Q: What is your favorite thing about
the COPK classes?
A: The best thing about the classes is
getting to know Ryan, Matt, and Sat. When you're in the class, they're more friends than teachers.
Q: What is the most important thing you learned in
the COPK classes?
A: How to properly roll is a big one. Another
is how to take better care of yourself; over the ten weeks I got an unbelievably stronger.
Q: What advice would you give to somebody new who
wants to do parkour?
A: Just keep doing it, parkour isn't a
sport that you can do casually. Don't give up on it. And if you want to get any where
you should be jumping around, or conditioning almost every day.
Q: What one thing would you want to share with
other traceurs?
A: Never be satisfied with your level. Always
try to go further, learn new things, master what you already know. But don't do anything stupid that
will hurt you.
March 2007-May 2007 Session
Real Name: Jim
Forum Name: Monkey
Age: 32
Parkour Since: I started practicing in the fall of last year, but it was really coming back to
classes this spring that I started taking it seriously. So by actual reckoning...one year.
By my reckoning, about six months.
Q: What is your favorite thing about
the COPK classes?
A: I think my favorite thing about the
classes is how quickly the curriculum causes you to progress from knowing nothing about
Parkour to feeling very confident in the fundamentals. In the first 10 week course I dropped almost 30 lbs.
, learned all the basic vaults, and gained the confidence through skill building and
conditioning to get out there and practice outside. The Intermediate class served to keep
increasing my fitness, as well as drill down beyond the fundamentals to really improve my technique.
The atmosphere in the class is really supportive while also being competitive enough to push you to
go that much farther.
Q: What is the most important thing you learned in
the COPK classes?
A: Don't overdo it!! I didn't listen to my
body and managed to injure myself pretty badly (torn abdominal muscles) when classes first started
last fall and had to take almost six months to heal!!! Parkour is all about progression. You
don't just get up off the couch one day and become David Belle. Take your time, listen to
your body. It will tell you when to go for it and when to wait for another day.
Q: What advice would you give to somebody new who
wants to do parkour?
A: DO IT!!! Start today!! I am 31. I just found
Parkour last year . I am in the best shape of my life, and I have rediscovered the confidence
and ability to view the world as a playground again. You are not too old, too fat, too out of
shape or too grown-up to start. You can do anything you set your mind to. All it takes is desire.
So get up! Come to class! Come to a jam! Start small, progress, and you will be amazed at how
your body will respond!
Q: What one thing would you want to share with
other traceurs?
A: Just one thing!? Fine: The Tufted Titmouse
is neither a tit, nor a mouse...it is a bird. It is also known as a Chickadee (even the males).
One final piece of advice I would give to Traceurs is to get out and join the community. Come to as
many local jams as you can, come do the Gauntlet at CU (you WILL get strong!) get on and post on the
APK forums. And if you are the traveling type, go to as many National Jams as you can!! The Traceur
community in the US is filled with the friendliest, funniest, and most supportive guys I have met
in a long time. These jams and the info gleaned from the forums are a HUGE way to pick up inspiration,
train hard, and hang with a fantastic group of people.
